Michigan Healthcare Workforce Index
Michigan Healthcare Workforce Index (MHWI) is a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive index that assesses the “health” of 36 healthcare occupations in Michigan. Combining data from Lightcast, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) – MHC was able to systematically rank healthcare occupations on four inputs - wages, growth, shortages and turnover - to determine how each occupation is faring in our economy.
While no social science methodology is perfect, MHC believes that the insights and analysis gleaned from MHWI will be crucial in determining next steps for healthcare workforce development across the state – such as statewide workforce targets, workforce priorities, goals and strategies.
