BHWET - Expanding Integrated Clinical Training to Meet the Behavioral Health Needs of Underserved and Rural Populations in Michigan

Eastern Michigan University received over $1.8 million from HRSA to train various behavioral health students to deliver in-person and telehealth services to Michigan youth. The goal of the grant is to increase Michigan's behavioral health workforce of child & adolescent behavioral health providers (psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists) that work in rural and underserved areas. The program will accomodate 16 MSW interns, 16 doctoral psychology trainees and 20 doctoral psychology interns from EMU with didactic coursework in integrated care and clinical supervision within primary care practices. Students will work at locations in University of Michigan Medicine Pediatrics and MidMichigan Community Health Center.
