In a continued commitment to community, Zeal Credit Union enthusiastically presented a $2,000 nursing educational award to Salam Jumjum at the 2019 Michigan Nursing Summit. The Michigan Nursing Summit is an annual event hosted by Michigan Center for Nursing, a program of the Michigan Health Council. The $2,000 award was presented to Salam Jumjum, a Henry Ford College School of Nursing student pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS), by Angie Krogol, Chief Member Service Experience Officer of Zeal Credit Union.
“I am a single parent trying to balance being a full time student”, says Jumjum. “I always love helping anyone who needs help, and with this fund I would be able to have more time to do so.”
Jumjum participates in her school’s student nursing association and volunteers her time to serve as a mentor for freshman students. She is also a mother of three and a diligent student.
“Her depth of determination to succeed on examinations are reflective of her commitment to her education”, says Candance Niemer, MSN, RN, who serves as an instructor to Jumjum. “She understands and utilizes critical thinking to excel in her studies”.
Jumjum ultimately hopes to pursue a career as a licensed registered nurse. She plans to use the funds received from Zeal Credit Union to pay for books and get a laptop, since one of her classes is online.
“We are thrilled to be helping Salam, a hardworking nursing student reach her goals and dreams,” said Zeal Credit Union’s Angie Krogol, “We cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings for Salam and we are happy to have been a small part of her future.”
