The West Michigan Interprofessional Education Initiative (WMIPEI), led by Grand Valley State University Vice Provost of Health Jean Nagelkerk, is featured in a National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education report on the success of interprofessional activities in West Michigan.
The National Center highlights the role (WMIPEI) plays in the success of the Cherry Street Health Services interprofessional clinic, pointing out the gains the clinic has made both in treating patients with complex chronic conditions as well as improving staff job satisfaction.
The real opportunity, as the national center points out, is the ability for this model to scale up in other Federally Qualified Health Centers, particularly given Michigan’s recent expansion of Medicaid under health care reform.
Congratulations to Jean and her staff for this recognition.
