Phillip Bergquist serves as Chief Executive Officer at the Michigan Primary Care Association and is a member at large of the MHC Board of Trustees. Philip recently shared what serving on the MHC board means to him and how it complements his professional work.
“I was thrilled to have an opportunity to serve on the Michigan Health Council’s Board of Trustees because of how important supporting Michigan’s healthcare workforce is to the mission of the health centers I work with day-to-day. Michigan’s health centers are dedicated to delivering excellent care that advances health outcomes in the communities they serve, and that care relies on our ability to train and grow the care team members needed to serve patients and support the operations of health center organizations. MHC’s efforts expose us to data and ideas that help attract and invest in the people who carry out our mission, and support health centers’ efforts to be innovative health workforce training partners.”

With experience advancing patient care and building effective care teams in community-based settings, Philip brings valuable insight into strategies that train, grow, and retain the people who make quality healthcare possible. Through his role on the MHC Board, he provides a health center-focused perspective that informs strategies to address workforce shortages, expand training and career pathways, and strengthen healthcare systems across Michigan. His insight helps MHC ensure a strong, sustainable healthcare workforce for the future.
