A respected leader in Michigan’s healthcare community, Duke brings a wealth of experience and a longstanding commitment to improving healthcare systems and supporting the workforce that sustains them. He recently shared his thoughts on what makes serving on the MHC board meaningful and how it aligns with his professional goals.
“I value the extraordinary work of the MHC. As a longtime healthcare executive and advocate, I have a professional and personal interest in the recruitment and retention of well-trained and experienced healthcare professionals and paraprofessionals in Michigan. The efforts of MHC have greatly improved the knowledge base of what we face in critical labor shortage areas in healthcare, as well as have accumulated demonstrated best practices to provide for a vibrant healthcare workforce in a dynamic environment.”

Duke’s perspective highlights the ongoing challenges facing Michigan’s healthcare workforce, including persistent shortages and an evolving care landscape. Through its focus on data-informed strategies and collaborative approaches, MHC continues to explore solutions that support healthcare professionals and systems across the education-to-practice continuum.
As Chair, Duke provides strategic guidance informed by his extensive experience in healthcare workforce development. His deep understanding of Michigan’s healthcare landscape supports MHC’s commitment to advancing meaningful solutions that address the state’s evolving healthcare workforce needs.
