Meet the Board: Angela Barksdale

Angela Barksdale, MA, serves as Chief Operating Officer at West Michigan Works! and is a member at large of the MHC Board of Trustees. She recently shared her thoughts on what makes being part of the MHC board meaningful, and how it aligns with her work and professional goals. 

“Healthcare is a core industry in the region I serve and across the state.  I am engaged in the work of the Council to help build bridges, connect resources, and find innovations that build & grow the talent our healthcare employers need to serve our communities.”

Angela’s leadership at West Michigan Works! centers on building strong workforce systems that respond to the needs of both employers and job seekers. By focusing on talent development, collaboration, and connecting resources across sectors, she plays a critical role in ensuring that Michigan’s healthcare workforce is prepared to meet the challenges of today and the opportunities of tomorrow. 

Through her service on the MHC Board of Trustees, Angela brings a workforce development perspective that complements MHC’s mission to improve access to quality healthcare by strengthening the healthcare workforce. Her experience in connecting employers with talent and creating innovative solutions to address workforce gaps helps inform MHC’s strategies to grow and sustain a sustainable healthcare workforce in Michigan.
