Description

Grand Valley State University Kirkhof School of Nursing received over $2 million from HRSA to launch the Wraparound Support Model to Empower Diverse Nurse Leaders: An Academic-Practice Partnership Initiative (Project Wraparound Support). The initiative's goal is to increase nursing education opportunities for nurses from disadvantaged background by equipping them to provide culturally-aligned care and lead in healthcare systems in Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs) in Michigan. Project Wraparound Support will expand the Peer Mentorship Program to provide long-term support for diverse care providers and professionals; include learning experiences addressing cultural awareness, social determinants of health and health disparities; and foster diversity and inclusion initiatives to increase nursing faculty from diverse backgrounds. By the end of the grant period in June 2025, Project Wraparound Support will train and award degrees for 38 RN-BSN students, 12 MSN students and 10 DNP students.
