Description
This program forms a strategic plan to address the critical shortage of physician assistants (PAs) trained in behavioral health services for rural primary care. GVSU campus in Traverse City is utilized in addressing behavioral health conditions in rural primary care through enhanced preceptor, faculty, and student training and experiential learning. The program picks its participants from the Traverse City area and requires students to have 12-week clinical rotations in primary care settings with 10 patient encounters/week throughout the rotation. The program also offers stipends to preceptors for each student they precept.
