Description
Michigan Career Opportunity Academies for Community Health, or MiCOACH, is a HRSA grant-funded initiative that will recruit and prepare new workers from under-resourced communities to enter behavioral healthcare work. MiCHWA is working with Michigan LEO to train 240 community health workers (CHWs) over three years to lessen the shortage of behavioral health workers in these communities. The initiative targets graduating high-school students to train, mentor and employ as the behavioral health CHWs. MiCHWA is also developing a CHW registered apprenticeship as another path to prepare graduates for behavioral health work under this project.
