Workforce Development Focus

Increasing number of healthcare workers AND improving the quality of healthcare workforce

Workforce Issue Addressed

Training individuals to work in a healthcare profession; Cross-training current healthcare professionals to be certified in another healthcare provider capacity

As a part of MDHHS's SDOH strategy, MDHHS is collaborating with MiCHWA to fund training/certification of CHWs at no cost whose primary language is not English and who work at small, growing nonprofits that are located in underserved communities. Their goal is to increase workforce that integrates social care into health care delivery. Nonprofit employers can identify up to 20 employees eligible for CHW training; CHWs must work at their employer for 1 year after receiving certification.
