Description
Secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) is a statewide program through Michigan Department of Education (MDE) that prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers after high school. Students enrolled acquire skills that prepare them for successful career entry, advancement, and/or continuing education within any of Michigan's 17 Career Clusters. There is a specified Health Science cluster which commonly includes programs such as EMS and CNA. Four key components of CTE education include 1) classroom instruction, 2) laboratory learning, 3) work-based learning opportunities to further develop and apply skills and 4) student leadership opportunities to support employability and career-ready practices. During the 2021-2022 academic year, there were over 10,000 students enrolled in Health Science CTE programs statewide.
