MDHHS has identified three use-cases for programs to utilize the grant funding: 1) to cover tuition and fees of paramedic training of $20,000 per student; 2) to reimburse paramedic students $15/hour for time spent in EMS training programs and 3) to expand access to EMS education in underserved areas of Michigan, including 20% of funding for rural areas. MDHHS allocated $9 million of funding to award to around 60 programs / organizations.
