Description
Empowerment Zone Coalition received a grant from SAMHSA to train 1,500 individuals in Mental Health First Aid (this project will be referred to as EZC MHAT). Empowerment Zone Coalition is partnering with Detroit Wayne Health Network, Creating a Healthy Community Detroit and 22 other community service organizations to reach their training goal. The goal of the EZC MHAT project is to increase the number of Wayne County youth receiving treatment for serious mental illness (SMI) and/or serious emotional disturbance (SED) from the baseline of 36% to 63% over the 5-year project period. Although this grant does not solely train healthcare professionals, some groups trained include EMS and health department staff.
