Detroit Wayne County Health Authority Internal Medicine Residency Program

Detroit Wayne County Health Authority (Authority Health) currently receives funding from HRSA to run a three-year internal medicine residency program. The primary goal of the program is to graudate well-prepared physicians to enter a primary care practice-based environment or a hospital-based environment as an internist or hospitalist. A significant amount of time is spent at Detroit-area federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs), community clinics and private practice offices. Internal medicine residents also complete a two-year certificate program in Population Health and Equity from the Michigan Public Health Training Center. Graduates have been 100% successful in passing the specialty board examination in internal medicine. Since 2013, the internal medicine residency program has received over $14.5 million in funding.
