Melanie Brim Named Health Council CEO


The Michigan Health Council Board of Trustees has named Melanie Brim as the new President and CEO of the Michigan Health Council. Board Chair Christopher Ingersoll said, “Melanie’s unique combination of performance-based leadership and dedication to public service make her the ideal leader for the Michigan Health Council.”

Ms. Brim previously served as the Senior Deputy Director of the Public Health Administration and State Health Officer at the Michigan Department of Community Health. She also provided executive leadership for a federal planning grant to accelerate the transformation of health care delivery and payment systems in Michigan.

“The Michigan Health Council will be an essential part of transforming Michigan’s health care workforce during this time of reform,” noted Brim. “I am looking forward to working with our partners across the state to develop innovative programs ensuring every Michigan community has access to health care professionals.”

Brim will replace outgoing-CEO Anne Rosewarne, who will be retiring after 23 years of service, who said, “I am excited to see what the Michigan Health Council will achieve under Melanie’s leadership in the years to come as I enjoy my retirement.”


About Melanie Brim

Ms. Brim is the Michigan Health Council’s new President and CEO, effective April 1, 2014. She previously served as the Senior Deputy Director of the Public Health Administration/State Health Officer at the Michigan Department of Community Health. Melanie provided leadership to Michigan’s state and local public health systems.

She also provided executive leadership for a federal planning grant to accelerate the transformation of health care delivery and payment systems in Michigan.

Melanie has also served as the Director, Bureau of Health Professions and managed the licensing and regulation functions for over 400,000 health professionals, representing 37 professions and 25 regulatory boards.

Melanie has worked in a variety of health care settings including acute care, long term care, community health care, mental health care and physician practice management. Ms. Brim is a graduate of Indiana University where she received both her B.S. in Medical Record Administration and her Master of Health Administration.
