Description

The ROAAOMS Underrepresented Minorities (URM) in OMS Mentor Program is offered by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) in an effort to increase the number of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the country who identify as underrepresented minorities. Mentors are matched with mentees who are pre-dental or dental students. Mentors are expected to help mentees learn more about the OMS specialty, help guide them through the OMS residency application process and give advice/answer questions about being an underrepresented minority in the field. Mentor/mentee applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed at three points in the year. Ultimately, AAOMS wants to develop a pipeline of diverse OMS professionals.
