Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments

The Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments initiative (Pursuing Excellence) is led by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Pursuing Excellence is meant to promote transformative improvement in clinical learning environments of ACGME-accredited institutions. There are three major components of the initiative. First, there are Pathway Innovators who are teams of hospital and medical center executives and GME leaders from sponsoring institutions who have received funding to change the culture of clinical learning in their organizations. Second, there are Pathway Leaders from sponsoring institutions who are committed to impoving their clinical learning environments only for one focus area (out of 6). Third, there are Pathway Learners from sponsoring institutions who provide feedback on how to shape the transformative improvement of clinical learning envrionments for scaling across a large and variable set of these environments.
