Description
The Public Health AmeriCorps program was established through a partnership with the CDC and AmeriCorps in Fall 2021 to provide support for public health needs in underserved communities and to build a career pipeline for future public health leaders. There is 5 years of grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, where the program plans to train up to 5,000 members. Individuals who participate in the Public Health AmeriCorps program receive an education award that they can use toward higher education or student loan forgiveness, student loan deferment / forbearance, a living allowance, hands-on experience and training from public health experts. Some public health issues that members work on include health equity and SDOH, behavioral health, and access to services & reducing barriers to care.
Michigan Health Council does not administer all of the programs in this database. Please see the "organizations involved" above to learn who you should contact for more information.
