The University of Michigan School of Public Health received a $1.6 million grant from HRSA to train 8 new preventative medicine residents over the four-year grant period and to enhance their preventative medicine residency program through a longitudinal federally-qualified health center (FQHC) rotation in rural and/or medically underserved communities in Michigan. The Preventative Medicine Residency program will incorporate a 2-month FQHC Population Health rotation in collaboration with the Michigan Primary Care Association. The University of Michigan School of Public Health will also enhance the Preventative Residency Program curriculum through the Region V Public Health Leadership institute, also located at University of Michigan. The grant period ends in April 2027.
