Description
The OsteoCHAMPS program is an 8-day residential experience at Michigan State University over the summer that provides education, resources and tools for disadvantaged Michigan high school students so that they are more likely to work in health careers. OsteoCHAMPS provides academic curriculum in anatomy, biochemistry, writing and in a medical research project. There is opportunity for experiential learning through clinical skills and osteopathic manipulative medicine. On top of the educational experience, students are able to connect with a multitude of students and graduates in healthcare to figure out what careers might best suit their interests and learn first-hand how others have found success. This is a week-long residential program for about 60 students each year. The goal of the program is to help foster health career interests among disadvantaged Michigan high school students and help them achieve their career goals.
