Description

MiYARN stands for the Michigan Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Network, and it is an initiative funded by a USDOL grant to develop more than 1000 youth registered apprentices in high-skill, high-wage, in-demand careers and to ensure that at least 10% of those apprentices are youth with disabilities. The MiYARN initiative is not specific to healthcare but careers and employers in the sector are included. Youth apprentices are between 16-24 years old, are enrolled in secondary or postsecondary education programs, and many are from underrepresented backgrounds. The purposes of MiYARN are to increase the number of skilled workers that can fill employment needs in Michigan and to prepare students who are apprentices for their future careers.
