The Michigan Healthcare Workforce Center (MHWC) is an informational resource initiative designed to gather, review and disseminate information on healthcare workforce related issues. The Center serves as a clearinghouse for information and data regarding healthcare workforce development at the state and national level. The Center is also designed to assist individuals and agencies in their efforts to address current and anticipated workforce shortages.

The MHWC was established in 2005 through a collaborative agreement with:

The Department of Community Health provides oversight for the Center. To assist the Department of Community Health in assuring that the Center is useful to the public, the four departments established an interagency coordinating council. The interagency coordinating council serves in an advisory capacity to DCH.

Our Purpose
The Michigan Healthcare Workforce Center will:
  • Serve as a clearinghouse for workforce data
  • Administer surveys to licensed health professionals
  • Convene and/or participate with groups to address workforce issues
  • Conduct research and publish papers on workforce related issues
