The Michigan Health Council (MHC) is a statewide, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1943 to promote health education, increase access to health care, and examine health manpower issues in Michigan. Founded through a cooperative effort of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association, the Michigan State Medical Society, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, MHC is dedicated to finding innovative solutions to common problems. Today MHC has successfully blended its creative, solutions-based approaches and technology with its solid network of relationships with key industry groups, academic institutions, government departments, and healthcare employers.

Anne Rosewarne
President

Leads the Michigan Health Council to innovative and contemporary systems to address health workforce development, recruitment, retention and distribution. Anne represents MHC and its programs regionally and nationally, leads the executive team in organizational planning, and provides vision and direction to the Council's numerous programs. She is involved with many activities, boards and workgroups that focus on issues important to MHC and its board of trustees. She has been with the MHC since 1992.

Since joing the Council in 2001, Carole has had a variety of roles. Currently, her primary responsibility is the Michigan Center for Nursing. She manages the Michigan League for Nursing and the National Consortium on Health Science and Technology.
Ron Waetzman

Ron Waetzman, Vice President of the Michigan Health Council. Ron will have oversight for MHC finance, human resources and information services and will be responsible for the launch of the Alliance for Clinical Experience (ACE). ACE involves the implementation of two new systems: a clinical passport system (ACE PASS) and a clinical placement system (ACE PLACEMENT). Both of these systems will ease administrative burdens on educational and healthcare organizations with regard to students' clinical rotations, increasing utilization of existing rotations and hopefully increasing the number of available slots for students. As a result, more students will be able to complete these rotations, producing an increase in the healthcare workforce for Michigan. Ron has been actively involved in healthcare management for over thirty-four years. Over the years, he has held numerous positions in hospitals and managed care organizations ranging from chief human resources officer to chief operating officer, chief financial officer and regional vice president of strategic services. Responsible for financial management, budgeting, policies, accounting practices, audits, internal controls, insurance matters, payroll, benefits, workplace safety, and statutory & regulatory compliance.
Pamela Nakfoor

Responsible for facilities management and purchasing, as well as, support person for MHC programs.
Sarah Bates
Program Manager

Sarah serves as the program manager for Medical Opportunities in Michigan (MOM), Medical Opportunities in Ohio (MOO), Practice Opportunities in Pennsylvania (POP) and Opportunities in Medicine in Indiana (OMI). She is responsible for the daily functions of these web sites and ensuring that information is kept current. Sarah provides customer service, online tours and training to member employers. She also assists in the growth and development of MOM, MOO, POP and OMI and marketing to prospective employers. Sarah joined the Health Council in 2001 and previously worked for Sparrow Health System for six years. A native of Lansing, MI, she graduated from Lansing Catholic Central and went on to receive her Associates Degree from Davenport College of Business.
Kim Burley

Kim joined the Michigan Health Council in August 2007 as Director of Physician Services. Kim will manage the Physician Sourcing Service (PSS) and the online physician programs. Kim is a native of Hanover, Michigan, located in the Jackson County area. She graduated from Jackson Community College and Michigan State University with a BA in Communications. Kim has a strong background in physician recruitment and retention. Prior to joining the Health Council, Kim worked at Foote Health System as the Manager of Physician Recruitment and Retention for thirteen years. Most recently, she worked as the Physician Liaison at Sparrow Health System for three years. She has recruited over 300 physicians and mid-levels and has expertise in physician relations and contracting. Kim is an active member of the Michigan Recruitment and Retention Network and served as Vice-President in 2006.
Mark Burley

Mark leads Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) with an enthusiastic, highly energized approach. Developing programs for high school students, conference planning, fund development and state officer training are just a few of the many duties Mark performs as the HOSA State Director. Mark started his career at the Michigan Health Council in 1999.
Craig Donahue
ACE Coordinator

Craig Donahue is the ACE Coordinator for the Michigan Health Council’s Alliance for Clinical Experience - ACE System. ACE will enable students in healthcare programs to access clinical learning in a more efficient and effective manner. Craig will be working with the ACE Passport System, an online learning and testing database system set up to ease the orientation process for students going into the clinical setting. Craig’s previous position was with the Center for Urban Studies at Wayne State University in a research oriented environment with a focus on special education in Michigan. He worked with Early On, Michigan’s early childhood intervention program and Michigan’s Assistive Technology Resource (MATR) evaluations. Craig holds bachelor’s degrees in business administration and political science, and a Masters of Public Administration from Wayne State University.
Lisa Feighner
Director, Member Services

Lisa serves as the Director, Member Services for the Michigan Health Council. Her daily functions include the management of three of the Health Council's online programs; Individual Career Opportunities in Nursing (Nurse iCON), Michigan Health Care Jobs (MiHCJ), and Health Opportunities for Today and Tomorrow (HOTT). In this role, Lisa oversees the marketing, membership, growth and development of these programs with healthcare employers, colleges, and universities throughout the state. Prior to joining the Health Council, Lisa held positions with Ingham Regional Medical Center and Sparrow Health System. She earned her Business Degree from Lansing Community College. Lisa is currently the Vice President of the Michigan Association of Health Care Recruitment (MiAHCR). She is also a member of the National Association of Health Care Recruitment (NAHCR) and the Health Care Recruiters Association of Metro Detroit (HCRAMD).
